Our hospital has introduced a highly automated medication dispensing system that integrates cutting-edge technology, revolutionizing the traditional model of drug management. This system comprises multiple specialized drug storage modules capable of storing hundreds of commonly used medications. It accurately dispenses the prescribed quantity of drugs using built-in precision measuring devices and then packages them into single-dose packages with barcode identification. The system is also equipped with automated inspection equipment that scans each package's barcode to ensure its contents match the prescription requirements, finally sorting the packages into corresponding output areas for patient distribution.

Once a physician completes a prescription, staff only need to input the prescription information, and the system automatically initiates the dispensing process, from drug selection to final sorting and storage, without any manual intervention. Compared to traditional manual dispensing, this automated system effectively eliminates the risk of human error and significantly enhances work efficiency, capable of handling multiple prescription requests simultaneously. The KSMART intelligent dispensing system further provides smart inventory management functions, monitoring drug stock levels in real-time, automatically replenishing out-of-stock items, and optimizing inventory configuration based on usage frequency, effectively reducing waste.

The KSMART intelligent dispensing system is designed with a strict hierarchical access mechanism to ensure that personnel of different ranks have corresponding operational permissions, effectively monitoring drug flow. The system also features drug expiration and storage environment monitoring functions to ensure drug quality. Statistics show that in the past five months, the system processed over 4,500 service requests, covering 48 types of drugs, with an average medication retrieval time of only 7 minutes and 41 seconds for nursing staff, and 97.7% of services completed within 15 minutes, significantly improving the quality of medical services.

Following the introduction of the intelligent medication cabinet system, the weekly distribution volume of emergency medications increased to 23 units, and the average drug delivery time was drastically reduced from 1,771 minutes to 11 minutes, saving an astonishing 1,518 minutes. This improvement not only ensures timely emergency medical care for patients but also saves the hospital approximately 1,061 hours of manpower annually, equivalent to 170,000 yuan in personnel costs, greatly enhancing operational efficiency. Additionally, the system's implementation has fostered collaboration and innovative thinking across departments, positively impacting organizational culture development.

The outstanding performance of the KSMART intelligent dispensing system has received widespread recognition, garnering six national awards in 2021, including the National Healthcare Quality Award Bronze Medal, the Taiwan Healthcare Quality Association Quality Improvement Achievement Competition Bronze Award, and the Innovation Award. In 2022, it also received an invention patent certification from the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, fully demonstrating our hospital's leading position in the field of automated medication dispensing and making significant contributions to improving healthcare service quality and patient safety.
