The Dermatology Department at Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital (VGHKS) has provided comprehensive dermatological services since October 1990. It was first headed by Director Chen Tzu-Chiang in 1990, followed by Director Tsung Tian-Yi in February 2000, Director Wu Chien-Shan in August 2008, and the current director, Hung Chien-Hui, since September 2019. The team is comprised of eight attending physicians, five residents, two medical technologists, three nurses, two case managers, social workers, and one administrative staff member, all wholly dedicated to serving the community the best of their ability. The department offers a wide range of services, including outpatient care, inpatient consultations, diagnostic examinations, treatment, research, and education. It offers specialized treatments for psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, eczema, vitiligo, urticaria, bullous disease, radiation dermatitis, autoimmune disease, skin cancers, pruritus and various infectious skin diseases and underarm hyperhidrosis and odor. The department has expanded into medical aesthetics and thus also offers cosmetic consultations, chemical peels and laser treatments as well as other modes of treatment for skin whitening, nevus removal and wrinkle removal.
